Time for the blog hop! I love this meme because everyone always has such differing answers and I love reading every single one of them. This weeks question:What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaptation of because you think the movie could never live up to the book?

This fear applies to almost every book that I love. It is very hard for a movie to live up to any book because the attention to detail just can't be as full. Details need to be skipped over to come in under a certain amount of time and I feel that leaving things to the imagination always makes things much more interesting. With that said, the one book that I would be nervous for would be Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout. Daemon is such a jerk that I think it would be hard for anyone to fulfill the role and still make me fall in love with him as I did in the book. Also, the effects of the aliens in their Luxen form would be hard to pull off without it looking cheesy, it looks so beautiful in my head.
So what about you? I can't wait to see everyones answers! Leave me a link, I always stop by :)
Hm. Haven't read this one but I have seen it around a few places and thought about it. I think I'll have to check it out. Definitely doesn't sound like Hollywood would be able to pull it off!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I get you on the Daemon front! I'd also wonder who would play him because I know we're all so used to the cover model by now.

I haven't heard of this one. maybe i have to check it out!

Agh, I totally want to read this book! It sounds so good! ♥ I've only read Half-Blood from Armentrout, but this sounds so different and intriguing. And same here! This fear probably applies to everyone with the books they love! x__x

I think it's safe to say that I would definitely be nervous about any of Jennifer's books being made into movies. I'm a little nervous about CoB by Cassandra Clare, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's going to turn out as awesome as The Hunger Games was, which totally didn't let me down for once. lol.
ReplyDeleteGreat answer, by the way! :)

I haven't read this book yet, but I've heard good things about it! I agree though, the perfect bad guy can be hard to cast. I'm a new follower! Here's my FF: http://writergrrlreads.blogspot.ca/2012/04/follow-friday-2.html
ReplyDeleteHi & Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteI completely agree - I chose this series as well..

Have a nice weekend, Sharon
I've never read Obsidian but I guess I would have to read it to understand the jerk/love thing. I think the guy who plays Damon in The Vampire Diaries does a good job of playing a loveable jerk.
ReplyDeleteOKay, this book is totally on my I Have To Read list. I have heard such great things. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteHopping by to say have a great weekend!

I totally agree with you on that one - this really applies to all the books being read. Somehow when they are being turned into a movie - 8 out of 10, the books are way better. Hmmmm. Anyhoo, new follower here. :D
ReplyDeleteJust hopping by, have a Happy Friday!

I haven't read that particular book, but I get what you mean. One of my biggest concerns with fantasy or scifi is--can they make it look real?

I agree! Movie just can't capture the details in the books. I am always disappointed that most of the time they just grab the main idea and leave the details!

Sorry, I just found out that I'm old follower! :D
ReplyDeleteI agree. I understand why movies cut things out. It's hard to include everything because of time constraints. Good answer.

I also agree, it's always very difficult to have really great adaptation...

You're right. It's so hard for a movie to portray everything and I always hate the fact that so many details goes lost.

I can;t believe i have not found your blog before this! I love it! Thanks for stopping by my FF post. Im a new follower of yours :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to see all of my favorite books turned into movies as well! :) Thanks for hopping by!
ReplyDeleteHi! I mentioned on my blog that I would be afraid of any of the Covenant Series on the big screen. :-) Same author just different books. I think that Damon from TVD plays a pretty good jerk when he wants to and can switch it up to vulnerable and semi nice with a flick of a finger. So no worries there is hope!
ReplyDeleteOn to the next hop! Stop by and stay a while.
