Spirit and Dust
by Rosemary Clement-Moore
to be published May 14th 2013 by Delacorte Books for young readers

Daisy Goodnight can speak to the dead. It’s not the result of a head injury or some near-death experience. She was just born that way. And she’s really good at it. Good enough to help the police solve the occasional homicide.

But helping the local authorities clear cold cases is one thing. Being whisked out of chemistry class by the FBI and flown to the scene of a murder/kidnapping in Minnesota? That’s the real deal.

Before the promotion can go to Daisy’s head, she’s up to her neck in trouble. The spirits are talking, and they’re terrified. There’s a real living girl in danger. And when Daisy is kidnapped by a crime boss with no scruples about using magic—and Daisy—to get what he wants, it looks like hers is the next soul on the line.
I'm all about a good ghost story and it seems like in this one they will be coming in droves.  I also like that it incorporates some Criminal Minds/CSI stuff.  It sure looks like the ghosts are giving her a headache on the cover!

Alienated
by Melissa Landers
to be published February 4th 2014 by Disney Hyperion

Interplanetary relations have never been more exciting! The first in a funny, romantic YA sci-fi series.

Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them.

Handpicked to host the first-ever L’eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she’ll have inside information about the mysterious L’eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara’s blog following is about to skyrocket.

Still, Cara isn’t sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L’eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn’t seem more alien. She’s certain about one thing, though: no human boy is this good-looking.

But when Cara's classmates get swept up by anti-L'eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn't safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara's locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.

Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn’t just her only friend; she's fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life—not just for herself and the boy loves, but for the future of her planet.
Umm.. Hello awesome cover, come to me! This one sounds really good, I am a little wary that it may feel a little insta-lovey but if the romance is handled well I think this could be a really great story! And not just because it's pretty... though that's definitely part of it.

Doctor Sleep
(The Shining #2)

by Stephen King
to be published September 24th 2013 by Scribner

Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special twelve-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals.

On highways across America, a tribe of people called The True Knot travel in search of sustenance. They look harmless—mostly old, lots of polyester, and married to their RVs. But as Dan Torrance knows, and spunky twelve-year-old Abra Stone learns, The True Knot are quasi-immortal, living off the “steam” that children with the “shining” produce when they are slowly tortured to death.

Haunted by the inhabitants of the Overlook Hotel where he spent one horrific childhood year, Dan has been drifting for decades, desperate to shed his father’s legacy of despair, alcoholism, and violence. Finally, he settles in a New Hampshire town, an AA community that sustains him, and a job at a nursing home where his remnant “shining” power provides the crucial final comfort to the dying. Aided by a prescient cat, he becomes “Doctor Sleep.”

Then Dan meets the evanescent Abra Stone, and it is her spectacular gift, the brightest shining ever seen, that reignites Dan’s own demons and summons him to a battle for Abra’s soul and survival. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of devoted readers of The Shining and satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.
I don't think I should even need to justify this and tell you why I am waiting on it but I will.
1.) Stephen King
2.) A sequel to The Shining.
That is all.

The Distance Between Us
by Kasie West
to be published July 2nd 2013 by Harper Teen

Seventeen-year-old Caymen Meyers studies the rich like her own personal science experiment, and after years of observation she’s pretty sure they’re only good for one thing—spending money on useless stuff, like the porcelain dolls in her mother’s shop.

So when Xander Spence walks into the store to pick up a doll for his grandmother, it only takes one glance for Caymen to figure out he’s oozing rich. Despite his charming ways and that he’s one of the first people who actually gets her, she’s smart enough to know his interest won’t last. Because if there’s one thing she’s learned from her mother’s warnings, it’s that the rich have a short attention span. But Xander keeps coming around, despite her best efforts to scare him off. And much to her dismay, she's beginning to enjoy his company.

She knows her mom can’t find out—she wouldn’t approve. She’d much rather Caymen hang out with the local rocker who hasn’t been raised by money. But just when Xander’s attention and loyalty are about to convince Caymen that being rich isn’t a character flaw, she finds out that money is a much bigger part of their relationship than she’d ever realized. And that Xander’s not the only one she should’ve been worried about.
It seems like a lot of people on my GR have seen this one but I found it yesterday for the first time and got so excited by the blurb and cover & when I saw that it was Kasie West I knew I had to feature it.  I loved Pivot Point and I can't wait to read more by her.

Find Me
by Romily Bernard
to be published September 24th 2013 by Harper Teen

"Find Me." These are the words written on Tessa Waye's diary. The diary that ends up with Wick Tate. But Tessa's just been found...dead.

Wick has the right computer-hacking skills for the job, but little interest in this perverse game of hide-and-seek. Until her sister Lily is the next target. Then Griff, trailer-park boy next door and fellow hacker, shows up, intent on helping Wick.

Is a happy ending possible with the threat of Wick's deadbeat dad returning, the detective hunting him sniffing around Wick instead, and a killer taunting her at every step?

Foster child. Daughter of a felon. Loner hacker girl. Wick has a bad attitude and sarcasm to spare.

But she's going to find this killer no matter what.

Because it just got personal.
HA I love that this ends with "because it just got personal." So dramatic! I love me a good mystery and this sounds like it has a lot to go on and I'm curious to see how it will all weave together!

Anywhere But Here
by Tanya Lloyd Kyi
to be published October 15th 2013 by Simon Pulse

"Ever since his mom died, Cole feels stuck. He just wants to graduate and leave his small, suffocating town. And everything is going according to plan--until Cole discovers the one secret that could keep him there...forever"--

There's not much of a blurb for this one but what there is sounds really good. I love me a good male MC and I really like the organic cover for this one. Nothing fancy, just a really good photo.  What do you think?

Racing Savannah
(Hundred Oaks #4)
by Miranda Kenneally
to be published December 1st 2013 by Sourcebooks Fire
Author of CATCHING JORDAN, Miranda Kenneally’s RACING SAVANNAH, about an underprivileged girl training to be a jockey while working in the barn at a high-stakes horse farm whose on-again, off-again relationship with the owner’s son has an upstairs/downstairs effect on race day, pitched as Downton Abbey in the South, to Leah Hultenschmidt at Sourcebooks Fire, in a good deal, in a three-book deal, for publication in 2013, by Sara Megibow at Nelson Literary Agency (world).

I read Things I Can't Forget on Monday and it made me realize that I love the feeling that books by Miranda Kenneally give me. I have dubbed it the Kenneally Feeling. Her stories are great, her romances are slow & sweet and they just make you happy!  So this week all I am thinking about is getting my hands on this one so I can get that Kenneally Feeling back! Hurry up December!

Undercurrent
by Paul E. Blackwell
to be published July 23rd 2013 by HarperTeen
A shadowy figure. An intense roar. The sensation of falling—fast.

That’s all Callum Harris remembers from his tumble over the waterfall. But when he wakes up in a hospital bed and finds his best friend trying to kill him, Callum knows something is seriously wrong. Unfortunately for him, the mysteries are just getting started.

Why are his parents acting like he’s some big sports star all of a sudden? And why are all the buildings in town more run-down than Callum remembers? Worst of all...what happened to Callum’s brother? Either Callum has gone seriously crazy or something happened when he went over the falls. Something impossible. Callum needs answers, and now. Because in this twisted new version of the life Callum knew, his former best friend isn’t the only one who wants to see him dead.

Filled with mind-bending suspense and unsettling thrills, Undercurrent is a grippingly paced teen debut that will pull you under and never let go.
Ok so A) I am continuing my theme of loving books where people wake up and have to find out what the eff is going on and B) I love books with guys on the cover. Seriously give me a guy over a pretty girl anyday. He looks pret-ty intense!

All The Rage
by Courtney Summers
to be published 2014

A 17-year-old girl’s attempt to blackmail her rich classmates results in her waking up on a dirt road with no money, no memory of how she got there and a semi-erased message she left for herself the only clue as to why. When she tries to piece together the evening before and all the events leading up to it, a dark and sinister game is revealed. Likened to Brick and Veronica Mars.
OK, so this book doesn't even have a cover but I don't care, it's my WoW and I can pick what I want.  I have become a huge fan of Summers over my (almost) year of blogging and her next novel sounds so good. I have a thing for movies/books where people wake up and have to piece together how they got to where they are.  Also, Courtney tweeted the following tweet last week that really got me hyped for it:
The girls in Some Girls Are were all kinds of mean so I can't even begin to imagine what these boys get up to!

In The After
by Demitria Lunetta
to be published June 25th 2013 by Harper Teen

They hear the most silent of footsteps.
They are faster than anything you've ever seen.
And They won't stop chasing you...until you are dead.

Amy is watching TV when it happens, when the world is attacked by Them. These vile creatures are rapidly devouring mankind. Most of the population is overtaken, but Amy manages to escape—and even rescue “Baby,” a toddler left behind in the chaos. Marooned in Amy’s house, the girls do everything they can to survive—and avoid Them at all costs.

After years of hiding, they are miraculously rescued and taken to New Hope, a colony of survivors living in a former government research compound. While at first the colony seems like a dream with plenty of food, safety, and shelter, New Hope slowly reveals that it is far from ideal. And Amy soon realizes that unless things change, she’ll lose Baby—and much more.

Rebellious, courageous, and tender, this unforgettable duo will have you on the edge of your seat as you tear through the pulse-pounding narrow escapes and horrifying twists of fate in this thrilling debut from author Demitria Lunetta.
This sounds so good!  I am dying to find out what has attacked the world! I have a feeling it might be vampires (because that's what pretty much everything is nowadays) but I am holding out hope that it's something much cooler!  I'm also really interested to see exactly what is going on at New Hope, it sounds pretty twisted.

Another Little Piece
by Kate Karyus Quinn
to be published June 11th 2013 by HarperTeen

A reckless wish taken from the darkest desires of the heart…

A bloody razor engraved with the names of the girls who turned to dust…

An endless cycle that feeds of loneliness and craves destruction…

Together, these pieces form a twisted puzzle that Annaliese Rose Gordon has to solve. Trapped in a body that isn’t hers—with no memory of how she got there—she must unlock the secrets of her past in order to escape the horrors of her future.

Every time a read a blurb for a book and it mentions someone being somewhere, or waking up and having no recollection of how they got there, I feel I need to take it upon myself to dig in and figure out what the hell happened. I love a good mystery, and I love the eerie feel of this cover, it has me wanting more!

The Testing
by Joelle Charbonneau
to be published June 4th 2013 by Houghton Mifflin Books for Children

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Isn’t that what they say? But how close is too close when they may be one in the same?

The Seven Stages War left much of the planet a charred wasteland. The future belongs to the next generation’s chosen few who must rebuild it. But to enter this elite group, candidates must first pass The Testing—their one chance at a college education and a rewarding career.
Cia Vale is honored to be chosen as a Testing candidate; eager to prove her worthiness as a University student and future leader of the United Commonwealth. But on the eve of her departure, her father’s advice hints at a darker side to her upcoming studies--trust no one.
But surely she can trust Tomas, her handsome childhood friend who offers an alliance? Tomas, who seems to care more about her with the passing of every grueling (and deadly) day of the Testing. To survive, Cia must choose: love without truth or life without trust.
I like the simplicity of this cover and the message below the title, "your time is almost up" repeated, that definitely pulls me in.  I love a good post apocalyptic story and this one sounds like it could possibly be full of twists!
