Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly feature that highlights books that I am anxiously awaiting. WoW is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
Spirit and Dustby Rosemary Clement-Moore
to be published May 14th 2013 by Delacorte Books for young readers

Daisy Goodnight can speak to the dead. It’s not the result of a head injury or some near-death experience. She was just born that way. And she’s really good at it. Good enough to help the police solve the occasional homicide.I'm all about a good ghost story and it seems like in this one they will be coming in droves. I also like that it incorporates some Criminal Minds/CSI stuff. It sure looks like the ghosts are giving her a headache on the cover!
But helping the local authorities clear cold cases is one thing. Being whisked out of chemistry class by the FBI and flown to the scene of a murder/kidnapping in Minnesota? That’s the real deal.
Before the promotion can go to Daisy’s head, she’s up to her neck in trouble. The spirits are talking, and they’re terrified. There’s a real living girl in danger. And when Daisy is kidnapped by a crime boss with no scruples about using magic—and Daisy—to get what he wants, it looks like hers is the next soul on the line.
What are you waiting on this week?

I love ghost stories too! I think this one sounds like it has a lot of promise! Yay for good spooky books!

ReplyDeleteMel@thedailyprophecy.
I LOVE ghost stories myself!! The first one I ever read, "Tryst", by Elswyth Thane, has remained one of my favorites. Sadly, it's been out of print for awhile, but if you can find it at the library, I know you'll be enchanted with it!
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard of this one, but it sure sounds fabulous!! Like you, I like the mix of ghosts with CSI-type plot elements. So now I'm waiting right along with you! Thanks for enlarging my TBR pile!! :)
This sounds so interesting! I love a good ghost story, too. I'm also a murder mystery fan and really like Criminal Minds.
ReplyDeleteOh, cool. I wasn't expecting her to get kidnapped. That's a good spin. :) I bet the ghosts do give her a headache! haha.
ReplyDeleteDid you read Texas Gothic, the first book in this series? It was awesome--I can't wait for this one, either!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds awesome and I like that Daisy seems to be putting her abilities into good use. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what to think of this ... I love the cover, but I'm not sure what to think of the synopsis. I love the ghost part, but the FBI stuff makes me hesitate. Still, good pick!
ReplyDeleteI love Rosemary-Clement Moore. I need this. She made me fall in love with YA again and was one of the first authors I read that made me get into using Goodreads and reading everything I could get my hands on.
ReplyDeleteI cannot WAIT for Spirit and Dust! I LOVED Texas Gothic, and I want this book in the worst way possible.
