Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly feature that highlights books that I am anxiously awaiting. WoW is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine.
The Testingby Joelle Charbonneau
to be published June 4th 2013 by Houghton Mifflin Books for Children

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Isn’t that what they say? But how close is too close when they may be one in the same?I like the simplicity of this cover and the message below the title, "your time is almost up" repeated, that definitely pulls me in. I love a good post apocalyptic story and this one sounds like it could possibly be full of twists!
The Seven Stages War left much of the planet a charred wasteland. The future belongs to the next generation’s chosen few who must rebuild it. But to enter this elite group, candidates must first pass The Testing—their one chance at a college education and a rewarding career.
Cia Vale is honored to be chosen as a Testing candidate; eager to prove her worthiness as a University student and future leader of the United Commonwealth. But on the eve of her departure, her father’s advice hints at a darker side to her upcoming studies--trust no one.
But surely she can trust Tomas, her handsome childhood friend who offers an alliance? Tomas, who seems to care more about her with the passing of every grueling (and deadly) day of the Testing. To survive, Cia must choose: love without truth or life without trust.
What are YOU waiting on this week?

Sounds like the SATs from hell! LOL I am curious about this world and love post-apocalyptic as well.

ReplyDeleteCheck out my Waiting on Wednesday
Don't know about the cover, but the synopsis is AWESOME!!! And wow, I didn't think a name could be any more tiring to write than Jennifer L. Armentrout, but "Charbonneau" tires me with only looking at it, LOL. Nice choice though!
ReplyDeleteI love your posts. You seem to come up with books I've never heard about, which is a good thing! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteNice pick! I'm pretty picky about my post-apocalyptic books, but this sounds good. Thanks for sharing, Jenni!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds interesting for sure... Nice pick.

Ugh, I hate this cover. It's just so cheesy looking. It's all the fault of that watch/ring/whatever-the-fuck. Oh well, I totally want to read the book, though. I can look past a poor cover. It's not the book's fault the cover designer hated it.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds interesting! Totally adding it to my to read list! Thanks for sharing!

This sounds really good! I love post apocalyptic stories too, so I'm definitely going to have to read this!

This one sounds very cool! I'm still a big fan of dystopian crazy-ass competitions.
ReplyDeleteOOOOH, I can't wait to read this one, too! Though I'm not a fan of the cover, the book sounds so awesome. I will never get sick of high-stakes competition novels involving teenagers. That makes me sound so sick but it's fun! Great pick, girl!
ReplyDeleteGreat pick! I have a hard time choosing my WoWs and almost chose this one this week too. I'll probably feature this one at some point. It sounds so good!!! I agree that, that tagline repeated gives it some added intense-ness.
ReplyDeleteNice! I haven't heard of this one yet and it's going right on my TBR list! Great pick Jenni! Happy reading.

Oh this looks cool! I love the maze! And the tagline, too!
ReplyDeleteAha! You've chosen one that is new to me so thanks for the heads up! I'm curious as to the significance of that object on the cover (a ring?) and the maze design. And it's blurbed by Jonathan Maberry!
ReplyDeleteHmm, this actually sounds really good! But June is SO far away lol. I have to admit though, this cover doesn't do it for me and I'd probably pass it by if I saw it on the shelf. I think if they took off the ring(??) it would be less cheesy....
