The trend of slow weeks for me continued through this week, but I made myself feel better by going to the bookstore twice and finding some good deals & getting some books that I am really excited for. I did get one ARC this week:
A big thank you to Simon & Schuster Canada for this pretty. Back when I used to do WoW this was one of them so I am super happy that I got my hands on it.
The books I bought:
Bystander and You Against Me were only $4.99 each so I figured that I couldn't go wrong with them. I've been wanting to read something by Jenny Downham for a while so that one was a really exciting find. I also bought what will be my first Neil Gaiman book and what will be my first Sarah Dessen book. I've heard really good things about their latest novels so I decided it was time to introduce myself to these authors.
Have you entered the madness?
Well so far this week I got The Road to Justice,The Path to Revenge by Edward Vogler (for review) I also got Baby Talk by Mike Wells (Kindle Freebie) Hoping for books tomorrow otherwise it's been a very slow week for me too.
ReplyDeleteOh, I've been hearing many great things about The Ocean at the End of the Lane! The cover was really pretty too :D And although I haven't read this one yet, seriously, Neil Gaiman is amazing. Hope you'll enjoy all of it! Happy reading :D

Great haul! I stared at Ocean and the End of the Line for a long time at the store a couple days ago but ultimately didn't buy it. It was really expensive (25 bucks) for such a small book :/ I'll eventually pick it up though because I just love Neil Gaiman :) I hope you'll have a great first experience of his writing!

Oohh at first I thought I had no idea what "Anywhere but here" was about, but then I checked GR and I realised when i saw the cover that it's one of the books I'm most looking forward to<3 You against Me was pretty good, but I personally think Jenny Downham's "Before I Die" was much stronger :) Awesome haul Jenni!<3
ReplyDeleteWooow! Those books are looking awesome. I am curious about your review of the book The Ocean at the End of the Lane. It's on my wishlist so I need to read it sometimes.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy reading your books!

I was extremely close to buying The Moon and More but didn't for some reason. Now I regret my choice. But I do hope you enjoy it as well as the Neil Gaiman novel!
ReplyDeleteGreat haul, chick! <33
Sarah Dessen is at the top of my tbr list and I hope to get to one of her books one day. I didn't like Downham's novel that much.. There was just something in it that didnt connect with me and so two stars it was. It was a topic that'd intrigue you I think and it had all kinds of parenting issues, brother-sister relationships, dual POVs etc in addition to the main issue so I hope it'll be a good read for you.
ReplyDeleteNice haul of books. Its so nice to get your hands on a book you really want. Sarah Dessen is certainly popular this week.

Wow Jenni! You got lucky with the book deals because I couldn't really find anything that I actually liked. I wanted to get the Sarah Dessen book, but being cheap I voted against it until another time. LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat haul this week. I need to read more Sarah Dessen books. I hope that you enjoy your books :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat catches!!
ReplyDeleteI need to pick up a copy of sarah dessens new book. I keep forgetting. I like the cover of bystander. Nice STS!
ReplyDeleteHere's my haul.
I got the Neil book this week as well! Seriously, he's one of my favorites. Neverwhere is my book jam and I'm hoping this one is as well! And you can never go wrong with a 5 dollar book!

aww Sarah Dessen! I have to say that even if you didn't like The Moon and More, you should check her other books because they are somewhat different from this one (though I'm hoping you do end up loving it!)

I just started reading The Ocean at the End of the Lane. :) I'm pretty much a Gaiman noob, too.
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to read You Against Me for ageees! I really like the cover and the concept sounds cool, too. I have yet to read a Neil Gaiman book!
ReplyDeleteI have The Ocean at the End of the Lane too. Haven't started reading it yet. I may save it for my Science Fiction Book Club read in a few months if I can wait that long. Here is my post: Stacking the Shelves
