I really liked Monument 14. It was a little different, being set during the apocalypse rather than after. It ends on a hell of a cliffhanger though.
ReplyDeleteAlso I loved Ask the Passengers. It was perfection, just like you'd expect from King. She's fantastic, and my author crush on her grows with every book she puts out.
Yay for an iPad! I'm so jealous. Does it work well with side-loaded content, like eARCs and the like?
O_O An Ipad!! That is so cool, I'm currently saving up for a Macbook Pro but after I buy that I want to get the Ipad. Awesome book haul, The Summer I turned Pretty is a good fast read and at $3.99? A bargain. Happy reading and happy Holidays!

Congrats on the iPad, yay! That's so awesome. I need to read Flawed, but I'm afraid. I've read so many emotional books lately and contemps, I need something paranormal, sci-fi or dystopian to mix things up. Oooh, and I also want to read Ask the Passengers:) Hope you enjoy all of these and can't wait to see what you think of them:)

ReplyDeleteI really hope you enjoy World War Z. It's one of my boyfriend's favourite books. Although he has many doubts about how true to the book the movie will be.
And I usually say "from", not "of". Although sometiems I'll say "at".

And oh my god I've heard SUCH amazing things about Flawed, but I'm so afraid to read it because I'm afraid it'll put me into not only a depression but a reading slump, both of which SUCK. So we'll see. And as for the title Good Oil I think I read somewhere that it's a term widely used in Australia. So no working in the oil fields. *kicks rocks* Also, Monument 14! I have an ARC of that and it is left unread, and I really don't know why. I mean, teenagers trapped in a superstore in the midst of a storm?! WHAT ABOUT THAT IS NOT AWESOME. Trick question - everything about that is awesome. I should really get to that. And I also heard amazing things about Wonder, and I hear it's heartbreaking, so that's good. Oh, I have an ARC of Gone Girl too. Oops? Anyway, I've heard that is filled with hatable characters which RARELY ever works for me, so I think I may pass. But I've heard great things! I'm not into zombies but I really want to see the movie AND read the book! I hope you had awesome holidays Jenni! Ooh, so many lovely books! I've read Monument 14, and enjoyed it. I didn't like some aspects of it, but it was really riveting and addicting, which is always nice to see in a dystopian/post-apocalyptic. Although, I guess technically this would just be apocalyptic, because it's set during an apocalypse! Linked also looks amazing beyond belief, and that cover is gorgeous. <3 And I've heard such great things about Gone Girl! I can't wait to see what you think about that one, Jenni.

ReplyDeleteFLAWED! I loved that book soooo much. SO MUCH. That book destroyed me sooo bad. I was crying for ages. Best. Book. Ever. *sigh* SO GOOD RIGHT!? Anywaaaay, some of the books you got I haven't heard, so I need to check these out because they sound great and you have excellent taste so I'm definitely waiting to check out your reviews too :) I really want to read Ask For Passengers!! Sounds amazing. I enjoyed Love and Other Perishable Items. It's so different from anything else I've read. It's like unusually entertaining. lol

Also, I think logically it would be Jenni OF--because I mean, you don't live on Alluring Reads (almost though), so from doesn't really make sense, but I hear From as much as Of.So I think both are ok. I use From I think.
Yay for Good Oil (the US title is way too long to type out--and yes I rather write out this obscenely long explanation area just to complain that I don't want to write the book title.) I did look up what Good Oil meant, I forgot but it's a saying there. I think it means something like a good time or whatever. Anyways. Great haul, muffin feet!
