Today I am so excited to announce the launch of Book Girls Don't Cry...They Vent. Amy of Book Loving Mom, Giselle of Xpresso reads and I have decided to start our own little weekly discussion meme. We'll be using it as an outlet for things we need to get off our chest about everything bookish & also for some general discussions we want to have with our readers. I am beyond happy to be working with these two wonderful ladies and I hope you all enjoy reading our random thoughts!
We wanted to do up a little post announcing the meme and let everyone know exactly what to expect. So here is what you can expect from me:
1) I am sad to say that I have left the Book Buzzers. I really enjoyed doing my vlogs for the group but everyone seemed to get pretty busy so I decided to branch out and start something different. I wanted more flexibility in the topic choices and the means in which I do my posts. I always felt pressure to do a vlog every week even when I wasn't feeling being in front of the camera and would have much rather typed up my topic. So in lieu of Book Buzzers on Monday you will see my Book Girls post.
2) This isn't strictly for vlogging. Amy and I really enjoy vlogging but Giselle would rather type up her thoughts (we'll get her in front of the camera sometimes, don't fret!) so you will see a mix of both means of conveying our thoughts.
3) I'll be posting on Monday, Amy will be posting on Saturday and Giselle will be posting on Thursday/Friday (whichever works best for that week.)
4) I'm going to be doing up a tab here on the blog where you can go to get all the info and will be linking up to all the posts so you can keep up to date with our weekly gabfests.
5) I really feel like there should be a 5 to even this list out. But I really don't have anything else to say... so here we are... and it's kind of awkward...
Here are the links to our blogs and YouTube channels that you can follow if you want to make sure you keep up with all the fun!

I really don't know... maybe the favorite books of the week/month, author you can't miss, heart attack books, a MUST buy book, I don't know...(:
ReplyDeleteLove the idea!! Its genius :D Something I'd like to read about would be book review etiquette and how to form relashionships with publishers
ReplyDeleteOo, I agree on the relationships with publishers, this has always been a strange and scary concept to me!
DeleteDitto on that! A specific question on that topic would be: Once you have already sent out your basic request email with your intro and stats and so on, and received an ARC from that publishing contact, what should you send in the email next time you want to request? Will they remember who you are? Or should you just assume they get so many requests that they won't?
DeleteYes! I see all these people w/ ARCs and I'm like please break down the process!
DeleteThis is going to rock!! I am excited to be doing this with you and Giselle. It looks like we are all getting some really great suggestions for topics already. :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a topic on contacting publishers and when and how to request ARC's and just get your foot in the door!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the discussions!!
I've always wanted to know more about your views on bookish trends and the such, as well as etiquette in the world of book blogging. I'm so excited to read more of Book Girls Don't Cry!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds fun! Looking forward to seeing your posts, Jenni!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting. I'd be in!
ReplyDeleteCheers.
Another question would be, What makes you follow a blog? Things you like to see? Things you hate to see?
ReplyDeleteSorry, now I feel like I am spamming you with comments, but I just wanted to say how awesome I think this new group is! I followed the Book Buzzers and was sad to see that it was slowing down week by week, I'm glad you guys have started something new! I am also going to take my first shot at vlogging this weekend with my first Stacking The Shelves vlog!!! Eeeeek
ReplyDeleteI would like to see you discuss what you think the trends in YA will be in the next couple years.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to hear how your reading and reviewing processes have evolved over the course of your time as a book reviewer.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, love! So proud of all you've accomplished <3
I would like to see what you girls like/dislike about male/female protagonist.
ReplyDeleteI would want to see a lot of talk about uniquely different books/characters. Also, blogging tips would be nice! I am in need of them!
ReplyDeleteHow about books that would make a great movie or TV series. Been done? OK, I'm tapped out.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea! I'd love to see the three of you talk about what it's like interacting with the authors and if there are ever any problems with them.
ReplyDeleteLove it! This is why I love doing discussion posts on my blog -- I can talk about anything! Good luck. :)
ReplyDeleteLove this, and I already added my discussion request on Giselle's blog!
ReplyDeleteI don't know. Maybe discuss what you think the trends in this year and cover books ?
ReplyDeleteHah hah on #5. I always feel like there should a logical number of bullet points too, sometimes I wrack my brain forever trying to come up with the last one. A tip of the hat to you for just acknowledging that.
ReplyDeleteLove the sound of your new feature. Look forward to seeing what you ladies will be discussing!
Wendy @ The Midnight Garden
Hmm, topics like 5 books you _______ (love/hate/cover talk/etc) would be great!
ReplyDeleteI´d love to see the top 5 things of month and also your bookshelf :D You must have a lot of books home .)
ReplyDeleteJenna O
I'd love to know if you follow the hype or what you think about it in general, if you think it's good or bad or if it can sometimes ruin a book etc. Also, what books are better/worse on the big screen than it was when you read the book? Ummm.. Oooh, I'd love to know what books would you all like to see make it on the big screen next? What do you guys think about fan fiction and authors that have become famous after writing successful fanfics like Cassie Clare and E. L. James etc. If you were to write a book what kind of genre, what type of characters etc would be in it. Ughhh.. there are so many things I'd love to read from all of your posts. I saw how much pressure Book Buzzers vids were for you so I hope this works better for you, Jenni. Love this cute banner by Giselle:) Can't wait to see your discussions. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing what sort of books you recommend :)
ReplyDeleteI would also like to hear about your opinions on the new genre of "New Adult"
Just give me honest opinions & reviews - there's a topic in itself.
ReplyDeleteperhaps you could post something about your fave books, books into movies u are most looking forward to. It would also be amazing if you make a book spine poem. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDelete-Riz B.
I enjoy reading other's opinions on books, to have different knowledge of books I want to purchase and also to compare with the ones I have already read.
ReplyDeleteHow about the price of ebooks? I think it's a bit steep when an ebook costs more than the hardback version! Is this just me?
ReplyDeletemaybe knowledge/advice to pass on to new bloggers :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with this one... Or the best way to actually start a blog?
DeleteMaybe a top book list each month-- so we'll all know what not to miss!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with the top books of the month.
ReplyDeleteTop books, Classic books you recommend, tips for bloggers
ReplyDeleteI'd be interested in seeing more audiobook reviews. Thanks and good luck!
ReplyDeleteI always have to do bullet lists in multiples of 5! Totally understand the awkwardness.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see posts about debut authors, lists of books coming out for the week, books you reread over and over...
What a great idea! I'll be tuning in.
Sounds like a cool project Jenni! Maybe you could do something about spoilers (I hate them!) or how you met your best blogging friends.
ReplyDeleteAnything on bookish pet peeves would be fantastic! :D Maybe make them specific ones, or just in general! A couple pet peeves I can think of are love triangles, absentee parents, middle-book syndrome (you know where that middle book just sucks and feels like major filler), cliffhangers (which frankly I love to hate :P haha), and maybe MCs you can't stand. Just a couple ideas for a pet peeve type thing.
ReplyDeleteOooh...and I just thought of another idea, book-to-movie adaptations. You could rant about the ones you hate, praise the ones you love, talk about the ones you thought were better...and the ones you thought were worse than the books, and all that other stuff that comes with, like the "perfect" casting and such! :D
I totally love this idea though, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of this feature! :D
Maybe something about the format of books you prefer, e-books/audiobooks/paperback/hardcover. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this :) What about top 5 book?
ReplyDeleteOooh good question. I know it's probably been done but I like chatting about book-to-film adaptations. Anyways thanks for the sweet giveaway & chance to win :D
ReplyDeleteLoved the new group! I would like to see something about reviewing books you didn't really like. Always a difficult thing to do =P
ReplyDeletePenny Pe
I agree with a few of the others that left comments already:
ReplyDeleteHot New Author
Favorite of the month (week)
Pet Peeves
Blogger pet peeves would be interesting. Things you can't stand when other people review books. =)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the fun post! I think you guys got it :) I don't know, maybe top pet peeves, what to avoid when reviewing... stuff like that...
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear about which authors you all enjoy communicating with. Not necessarily "Oh my gosh, her books are AMAZING!" but rather "Oh my gosh, we've talked online/met in person and she is SO MUCH FUN."
ReplyDeleteOne topic suggestion could be covering a bookish event. I would like to know the ins and outs, plus the pictures of all the fun that went on. It could cover things from registration fees, what to expect a an event, if there's a Q&A, price of books (are they usually cheaper or perhaps that event requires you just pay one fixed price and have access to x-amount of books) etc. It can cover a general event from your personal experience or a specific book event. I've never attended one and would love more information if that topic is covered.
ReplyDeleteTell us about the books that reach out and grab you, the authors with the words that can really connect to everyone, and the inspiring reads that we all love. Give us honest opinions and reviews of books.
ReplyDeleteCliffhangers! With every new YA book being part of a trilogy, heart-attack cliffhangers are starting to really get to me.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I can't get the GFC on your site to work? :(
ReplyDeleteHmm, maybe your favorite book characters and why you love them? The most hated? How'd you get into reading and blogging? Books vs. Movies... Something like that.
ReplyDeleteIf you were the MC in any book, which one would you love to be, and which would you never ever want to switch places with?
ReplyDeleteThis sounds a great idea girls! Can't wait for more awesome!
I would love to see your top 5 books every month and maybe information if you know of new authors or series coming out. Thank tou for this great giveaway and the chance to win!
ReplyDeletemelissargolden@yahoo.com
Favorite books of the month/year - a great way to find new favorites. :D
ReplyDeleteCurrent/future trends in YA, as well as great books that don't get much hype (indie?)
ReplyDeleteI would like to see favorite books of the month/year, top 5 books (via blog votes), favorite characters, not so favorite characters, and news about upcoming authors. Thanks for this awesome giveaway! (:
ReplyDeleteMaybe the prejudices readers suffer at some point of their life for reading certain book or gender? For example, Harry Potter back in the day was thought only for children and people would look weird at me for loving it.
ReplyDeleteIriel
I don't know....maybe tear jerkers? Feminism in books?
ReplyDeleteYA dystopia! I haven't heard a lot these days! :(
ReplyDeleteWhat about - how do you deal with writing a negative review and have you ever had to defend yourself to the author/publisher?
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Leanne
Good luck with your new ventures!
ReplyDeleteI already commented earlier, but I had a suggestion ... maybe you guys could talk about review books and your process for getting through all of them? I know there are some bloggers who get TONS of review books and I'm totally curious how they manage to read them all! Or IF they read them all!
