Thousand Wordsby Jennifer Brown
to be published May 21st 2013 by Little Brown Books for Young Readers

Ashleigh's boyfriend, Kaleb, is about to leave for college, and Ashleigh is worried that he'll forget about her while he's away. So at a legendary end-of-summer pool party, Ashleigh's friends suggest she text him a picture of herself -- sans swimsuit -- to take with him. Before she can talk herself out of it, Ashleigh strides off to the bathroom, snaps a photo in the full-length mirror, and hits "send."I love Jennifer Brown and when I saw that she had a new novel coming out next year I totally went all fan girl. Her novels are so brutally honest and they are wonderful contemporaries. This one deals with an issue that is very prevalent in our society and I can't wait to see her take on it!
But when Kaleb and Ashleigh go through a bad breakup, Kaleb takes revenge by forwarding the text to his baseball team. Soon the photo has gone viral, attracting the attention of the school board, the local police, and the media. As her friends and family try to distance themselves from the scandal, Ashleigh feels completely alone -- until she meets Mack while serving her court-ordered community service. Not only does Mack offer a fresh chance at friendship, but he's the one person in town who received the text of Ashleigh's photo -- and didn't look.
Acclaimed author Jennifer Brown brings readers a gripping novel about honesty and betrayal, redemption and friendship, attraction and integrity, as Ashleigh finds that while a picture may be worth a thousand words . . . it doesn't always tell the whole story.
So, what are YOU waiting on this week?

Hmm, this one sounds interesting. I know it will get me riled up, since I already want to punch Kaleb in the throat. Maybe I'll add it to my growing list on contemporaries to read in the new year.
ReplyDeleteHaving read any of her books but this one sounds cute!
ReplyDeleteThis is a new and very prevalent issue. Sounds really emotional!

My WoW/WWW
Sounds like an interesting plot! But why would you go to jail for texting a picture of yourself??
ReplyDeleteI don't think she will go to jail. But I think the police probably get involved because she is underage the photo goes viral.
DeleteI've been waiting to read this one also. It sounds really interesting.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a great read especially for teenagers, who have been in similar situations. Great pick!
ReplyDeleteThis isn't the kind of book I'd normally read, but I have to be honest after reading the synopsis I'm kind of wanting to know what will happen. I agree that's it sounds like a perfect read for teenagers, especially nowadays! Thanks for spotlighting it Jenni, I'll be curious to see what you think of it!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds really great!! I haven't read any of her books yet, but really want to. Awesome pick babe!!
ReplyDeleteI like that Jennifer Brown's covers (at least the reissues of older titles and the new releases) are having a similar look and that it's one that I like.
ReplyDeleteThis one sounds really good. It's a topic that's more and more a part of life (there was just a big scandal at my old HS) so I like that it's moving into books, too.
(my pick this week)
I hadn't heard of this one before but it does look good, thanks for sharing! ^.^ If you would like to check out my Waiting On Wednesday you can do so here. :)
ReplyDeleteDude. This looks awesome. I love Jennifer Briwn and the moment I saw this, I could tell it was one of her books. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI saw this the other day and got it pre-ordered :) Can't wait to get my hands on it when it's released. Great pick!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely sounds like something I'd like to try and read, especially to see how she overcomes that scandal! Thanks for choosing this, adding it to my Goodreads list :)
ReplyDeleteOhh awesome choice! I only just recently heard of this book. It sounds like a really intense contemporary. I'm all about those at the moment. :P
ReplyDeleteMy Waiting on Wednesday
This looks like a very good read. I have it on my list now. thanks for sharing. my wow http://jennreneeread.blogspot.com/2012/11/waiting-on-wednesday-36-and-www.html
ReplyDeleteI think I will now know what a Jennifer Brown novel is based solely on that font! Whenever I see a book with that font, it's by her! Of course, I still haven't read anything by her yet, though I do have Hate List on my Kobo. I love an author who isn't afraid to be honest in their work!
ReplyDeleteGreat pick!
I'm a little skeptical of this one, but I think only because I don't like the cover. Yes, I truly am that shallow. <_<
ReplyDeleteAnyway, a book based around a sexting scandal is a pretty cool idea. I mean, one of the common issues with books is that they sort of ignore a lot of the modern technologies like facebook and cell phones, but that obviously won't be the case here.
Also, if you've read and loved Jennifer Brown, then I wants it!
Yes, I saw this one a couple of weeks ago and I really want to read it. It is probably going to piss me off, but I rarely like to read the difficult topics and this is one that FINALLY interests me. So I have to try. Great pick, Jenni.
